New Law for Charitable Giving

New Law Offers Additional Benefits for Charitable Giving

A new law passed in December makes it possible to give individual retirement account (IRA) assets to charity through 2011, free from federal tax. Prior to 2006, all lifetime distributions from IRAs were taxed—even those given to a charity.
Because this legislation came so close to the end of 2010, qualified charitable contributions made from IRAs through January 31, 2011 can be applied for 2010 tax purposes.
If you a have reached the age of 70 ½ and wish to make a gift that will enhance the programs of the Riford Center and your own individual tax situation, please contact your financial advisor for details.
For additional information on giving to the Friends of the Riford Center, please contact Sharon LeeMaster (Sharon@SharonLeeMaster.com or 858.354.2181)
